Loofah is a natural sponge that comes from a beautiful creeper in the pumpkin family. The unripe fruit looks most like a courgette, and can also be used in the kitchen in the early stages instead of courgettes. But when the fruit ripens it becomes woody and bitter, and inside the fruit a woody net forms. It is this net which, after drying, can be used as the most beautiful natural sponge with a good exfoliating effect!
